Mr. Xu travels from one life to another. His journey across the ever-changing city of Beijing mirrors the film’s transition from documentary to fiction, from Xu being himself to taking on a scripted existence. Mr. Xu presents itself as multifaceted as its protagonist: conceptual trick or escapade of a lucky man?
